April 11, 2023, is the date Extended Support for SharePoint 2013 ends. Just a couple of months away! Have you moved off SP 2013? Are you at least making plans to do so if you are still on it?
We realize that moving off SharePoint 2013 is not always a simple matter. We have customers still using SharePoint 2010 because there is an important application that they built on it. But the words “important application” and “extended support has ended” do not go very well together.
Staying on a server that is no longer supported puts your organization at risk. If there is a failure, there is little recourse to find a solution (mainly doing Google searches at that point). Also, new browsers or mobile devices may not work with data and applications on the old server. Software companies build for the newer server platforms, not for ones that have gone out of support.
With an older server, you are missing out on new features and enhancements that accelerate collaboration and business process automation in your organization.
The Time to Migrate off SharePoint 2013 is Now
With the April 11 date looming, the time to migrate off SharePoint 2013 is past due. If you have not made plans, or if you did make plans but they are stalled, contact us at Crow Canyon Software. We find that sometimes the delay in migrating is due to applications running on the old server that are actively used and take some effort to replace. But it is important, indeed critical, that you make the move, particularly when the server these applications are running on is no longer supported.
